And such is the case for Wednesday season one evil mastermind Ms. Marilyn Thornhill, a.k.a. Laurel Gates, whose psychotic mind was brought to life by Christina Ricci. While Laurel's fate was left up in the air during the finale-the last fans saw of her, she was incapacitated and covered in bees-season two reveals she is alive, though maybe not well. As a quick refresher, Ms. Thornhill was an alias used by Laurel as she executed her plan to bring back crazed Pilgrim Joseph Crackstone, all the while acting as master to Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan) and his monstrous form, the Hyde. But after being defeated by Jenna Ortega's Wednesday Addams in the season one finale, it's revealed in season two that Laurel was imprisoned before being brought to local Willow Hill Psychiatric Facility, a home for outcasts in need of care-including Tyler.readPrincess Diaries' Heather Matarazzo Makes Rare Return to Spotlight in Wednesday Season 2Laurel is transferred to the facility by lead psychiatrist Dr. Rachael Fairburn (Thandiwe Newton) in the hopes that, as the master of Tyler's Hyde form, Laurel may be able to aid in his path to rehabilitation. Leon Bennett/Getty ImagesAnother fate revealed in the first minutes of season two? That of Xavier, a fellow Nevermore student who managed to put a crack in Wednesday's stony exterior by the season finale. After season one aired, misconduct allegations were made against actor Percy Hynes White, all of which he adamantly denied. But while Percy was, per Deadline, given the option to return for season two, Xavier was ultimately written out of the show. He was, however, given a closing arc. In the first episode of season two, it's revealed that Xavier's father has transferred him to Reichenbach Academy in Switzerland, angry his son was falsely accused of being the Hyde.

"I tried texting, but I guess you lost the phone I gave you," Wednesday's roommate Enid (Emma Myers) reads aloud from the letter. "Consider this my goodbye gift. The image suddenly flashed in my head. Don't ask me how I know or what it means, but it's connected to you, I'm sure. Who's Wednesday Addams without a mystery to solve, right?"
