While Scott Hamilton retired from ice skating, he has remained a prominent figure in the sports community. Hamilton is best known for taking home the gold medal in the 1984 Winter Olympics and performing his signature backflip move. Following his win at the Olympics, Hamilton cofounded Stars on Ice and toured with the group. In 1997, Hamilton was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Four years later, he hung up his skates for good. "I loved training. I loved feeling better than I was the last year. I loved winning," Hamilton previously told U.S. Figure Skating Magazine.
