Amell has been cast as Hobie Buchannon, a series regular lead role in the highly-anticipated Baywatch reboot, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. The 12-episode series is set to premiere in the 2026-27 season from Fox Entertainment and Fremantle, which holds the rights to the original show. The actor is known for his roles in Arrow, Heels and Suits LA. The latter of which was canceled by NBC ahead of its season one finale in May. "He's the kind of lead who can sprint into danger, carry the emotional weight, and still make it feel fun. We're so excited to get started." Production on Baywatch is slated to begin shooting this spring in Venice Beach and on the Fox studio lot in Century City. Nix (Burn Notice, The Gifted, True Lies) serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside executive producers McG, Michael Berk, Greg Bonann, Doug Schwartz, Dante Di Loreto and Mike Horowitz. McG (The O.C., Charlie's Angels, Terminator Salvation) will also direct the first episode. The original lifeguard drama Baywatch debuted in 1989 and soon became the most-watched show in the world, airing in over 200 countries. It starred David Hasselhoff as Mitch Buchannon, the lead lifeguard. The series also helped kick-start the careers of Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra and Jason Momoa.
