James Van Der Beek's wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek, is returning to social media to share a special musical tribute in honor of her late husband. In an Instagram Story posted on Thursday, February 12, Kimberly reshared a video originally created by country singer Alana Springsteen. "RIP james van der beek 🙏🏻💔 this loss hit me hard today," Springsteen, 25, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, February 12. "So much girlhood was lived to the backdrop of his work. Praying for his beautiful family." The singer - who proceeded to play a rendition of the Dawson's Creek theme song or Paula Cole's hit single "I Don't Want to Wait" - also provided a link to a GoFundMe page that was originally set up by friends of the Van Der Beek family. News broke on Wednesday that James died peacefully at the age of 48. "He met his final days with courage, faith and grace," a statement on James and Kimberly's Instagram pages read. "There is much to share regarding his wishes, love for humanity and the sacredness of time. Those days will come. For now we ask for peaceful privacy as we grieve our loving husband, father, son, brother and friend." Before his death, the actor was able to spend quality time with some of his closest friends, including Stacy Keibler and Alfonso Ribeiro. "In these past days, you taught me more about being present than any book ever could," Keibler, 46, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday. "You showed me what it looks like to trust God's plan, even when it breaks your heart. Especially when it breaks your heart." In a separate social media post, Ribeiro, 54, added, "I was with him through this horrible journey to beat cancer. His family and friends went on this roller coaster ride. The highs when it looked like he had it beat to the breaking lows of it coming back. I've learned so much from James. He and @vanderkimberly changed my life. I will forever be in debt for all they've given me and my family."
