More than 200 dogs were rescued on Wednesday, February 11, as part of a coordinated, multi-agency sting operation that targeted dozens of properties across Dallas, Texas, that police learned were linked to a suspected dogfighting ring. A statement from Dallas Police indicates "Operation Fight Club" was a resounding success. All told, authorities and investigators saved 207 dogs and seized 21 pistols, 28 rifles, six revolvers, fentanyl pills, more than 500 grams of both cocaine and marijuana, and suspected dogfighting equipment, including treadmills and chains. The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals participated in Wednesday's takedown and sent nearly 150 of the rescued dogs to a recovery center, where they continue to receive veterinary forensic exams, critical sheltering, medical care, and behavioral treatment and enrichment, a statement from the organization explained. The ASPCA also shared harrowing photos from this week's operation. It appears the rescued dogs were primarily pitbulls. The photos show workers saving puppies as well as adult dogs. Couple Arrested After Abandoning 9 Puppies and 2 Adult Dogs in Florida Park It does not appear anyone was arrested during the raids on the dogfighting sites, but police are continuing to investigate the suspected ring and will announce any future arrests when they are made, police said. Investigators did not release a list of the locations involved. Dallas cops also worked with the Texas Department of Public Safety, the FBI Dallas Safe Streets Task Force, Dallas Animal Services, and Operation Kindness to execute the search warrants. The ASPCA is providing support with subject matter expertise, operational planning, animal removal and processing, and legal and investigative assistance, the organization's statement said. "Despite being a felony in every state, dogfighting still occurs all over the country, resulting in the suffering of countless vulnerable animals. The ASPCA is dedicated to putting an end to this horrific cycle of cruelty and bringing its victims to safety," said Teresa Ladner, vice president of ASPCA Criminal Practice and Investigations, in a statement to Us Weekly. "We are deeply grateful to the agencies involved in this complex and multi-faceted rescue operation for pursuing justice for these animals and ensuring they receive the critical care they so urgently need." In November 2025, the Newton County Sheriff's Office arrested 45 people during a raid on an active dog fighting operation in the Call community, capping what was a months-long investigation dubbed "Operation Pitbull." Deputies executed a search warrant on the evening of November 22 and discovered an active fight between two dogs in a pit that had been constructed specifically for dog fighting. Most of the suspects fled into a nearby woods but were captured by law enforcement. The operation was launched in March 2025 after the sheriff's office received numerous complaints and tips about dog fighting in the area. Over 2 Dozen Dogs Found Dead in Backyard Pile at Alabama Home: Sheriff Before raiding the property, deputies used the department's thermal imaging drone to analyze the site. The drone revealed "spotters" positioned around the property, ready to alert participants at the first sight of law enforcement. Deputies separated the two fighting dogs and placed them in kennels for safety before transporting them to Nederland Emergency Veterinarian Clinic for treatment of their wounds. No other dogs were being kept at that location. If you know of or suspect animal abuse or neglect, you are urged to contact the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals through their website or call your local animal control officer.
