This is so, so tragic... A 25-year-old sadly passed away this month after a horrific skiing accident in which he slammed into a chairlift tower. The young man, Walker Phenix Nelson, was skiing at Welch Village Ski & Snowboard Area in southern Minnesota around 8:37 p.m. per the Goodhue County Sheriff's Office via The US Sun. Tragically, this ski trip would end in tragedy when it's unclear if Walker lost control, but he ended up coming down the hill and crashing into a chairlift tower. Several people are reported to have seen the incident, and did what they could. Immediately, bystanders administered CPR until EMTs arrived... But it was too late. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Red Wing Fire Department at 9:15 p.m. Heartbreaking. So, so awful. Peter Zotalis, president of the Welch Village resort, told the Minnesota Star Tribune after the incident: "We are heartbroken about the fatality that occurred at Welch Village on the evening of Sunday, February 1st. We extend our deepest sympathy to the skier's family, friends, and loved ones. We are grateful to our ski patrol, mountain staff, and emergency services for their swift response.
