Then, on Feb. 2, they were photographed arriving at a hotel in Paris, marking the first time they were actually seen together. But that all went out the window on Feb. 8, when the Skims founder and Formula 1 racer rocked up to the Super Bowl together, sitting side-by-side in a luxury suite. But if you're a true pop culture expert, you'll know that Kim and Lewis have actually been running in the same circles for well over a decade and have a ton in common. Jamie Mccarthy / Getty Images On top of that, the seven-time F1 world champ also has a pre-existing friendship with Kim's family, too - most recently evidenced by the fact that he was heard laughing in the background of one of Kylie Jenner's videos of her, Kim, and Khloé goofing around at home. Wwd / Getty Images In light of all this history, a source told People this week that "there's a comfort level" between them, and that Lewis is the "first guy she's really into in a long time." "She always liked him. She's excited about their romantic connection," the insider claimed. "He makes her feel safe and she genuinely enjoys spending time with him." Pascal Le Segretain / Getty Images The source also said that while their Super Bowl outing wasn't necessarily a "formal date," Kim "liked having a little one-on-one time with him, and they "have plans to see each other again soon." Aeon / Getty Images Well, if one thing's for sure, those "plans" are gonna need to work around some very, very busy schedules. Kim is, of course, based in Los Angeles, where she runs her business empire and takes care of her four kids, while Lewis is about to embark on another F1 season with Ferrari. If you follow F1, you'll know that the drivers spend more time in media press conferences than they do actually driving their cars (not even an exaggeration), so it's no surprise that one reporter plucked up the courage to ask Lewis about his off-season love life. Nurphoto / Getty Images Speaking on F1 TV coverage, Sky Sports reporter Ted Kravitz said that the Ferrari driver was asked, "Did you enjoy your company more than the game at the Super Bowl?," referring to his outing with Kim. Jayce Illman / Getty Images There's no footage of the questioning, as it took place during a written press interview; however, Ted claimed that Lewis's response was incredibly blunt. "He said: 'It's my private life. I'm not talking about that,'" the reporter revealed. "So, that's me told." Clive Rose / Getty Images Well, I don't quite know what to make of these two, but I hope they go the distance, because I actually think they're incredibly compatible. Kim - who hasn't publicly dated anyone in nearly two years - said on a recent podcast appearance that she's looking for a "calm" and "dependable" partner who can take "accountability" for their actions. And as someone who's spent years and years watching the highs and lows of Lewis's racing career, I think he fits the bill.
