Britney Spears just quietly made one of the biggest business moves of her entire career! After decades of creating some of the most defining songs of a generation, the Princess of Pop has officially sold her ownership stake in her music catalog. Yes, the music that soundtracked our collective youths now belongs to someone else. Related: Kim & Khloé Kardashian Reveal How They 'Ended Up In Bed' With Britney In 'Crazy' Sleepover! According to legal documents revealed by TMZ on Tuesday, Britney signed an agreement transferring her share of her catalog to music publishing powerhouse Primary Wave. The paperwork shows the deal was finalized at the very end of last year, as it turned out, with Britney putting pen to paper back on December 30. The exact price tag has not been publicly disclosed, but sources close to the situation told TMZ it was a "landmark deal," with whispers placing it in the same jaw-dropping territory as Justin Bieber's reported $200 million catalog sale. Sheesh!!! That number alone is enough to make your head spin. But with Britney's body of work, it makes sense. After all, hers is a catalog packed with era-defining hits including Baby One More Time, Toxic, Oops I Did It Again, Circus, Gimme More, Stronger, Lucky, Womanizer, and SO many more. Brit's songs have shaped pop culture, fashion, radio, and an entire generation's idea of what a pop star looked like and sounded like! What makes this moment especially significant, tho, is the timing in Britney's life. After years under a conservatorship that stripped her of control over her finances and career decisions, this sale comes during a period where she is in charge of her own destiny. To that end, TMZ sources claimed Britney is happy with the deal and has been celebrating quietly by spending time with her son Jayden. Awww! The bigger picture around this is interesting, too, because Britney is now part of a growing wave of legendary artists who have opted to cash in on their catalogs. Bruce Springsteen, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Neil Young, Shakira, KISS, Sting, Phil Collins, Stevie Nicks, and the aforementioned Biebs have all done the same in recent years. (Although to be fair, Taylor Swift sure hasn't! LOLz!) Related: Kim Kardashian Recalls Staging Fake Britney Visit To Look Famous! Anyway, it is also worth noting that Primary Wave is no stranger to massive investments. Stevie Nicks reportedly sold an 80% stake in her catalog to the same company in 2020, with her copyrights allegedly valued at around $100 million at the time. So, that might give you a rough idea of the kind of money Brit may have just made!! Reactions, y'all?? Drop 'em (below)!
