Nick Viall and Natalie Joy owned up to their latest mistake... privately. Last month, the couple found themselves in trouble with fans (again) for asking several super insensitive questions about the death of the Southern Charm star Austen Kroll's sister, Kyle Kroll, who died at 9 when she fell off a cliff during a family hiking trip, on The Viall Files podcast. It started on the wrong foot right away as Natalie abruptly brought up the topic after they spent the past 10 minutes talking about Austen's time on the Bravo show: "Quickly jumping out of Southern Charm, I'm sure we're gonna jump right back into it, but going into your childhood, I didn't know this about your sister passing at 9." The reality star clearly didn't expect the topic to come up so suddenly, replying: "Okay, we are switching gears." Natalie and Nick then proceeded to grill him, asking things like how old he was during the tragedy, if he was there when she died, and what cliff she fell from. Jeez. But despite being visibly uncomfortable, the two didn't take the hint! They kept pushing! If you have not watched the awkward interview moment yet, take a look (below): Nick and Natalie got ripped apart online for being so "careless," "rude," and "inappropriate" during the interview. Even Austen's co-star, Rodrigo Reyes, slammed Natalie, saying, "she's a POS." Which... Yeesh! That's harsh! Most people just wanted the two to apologize for their behavior, and they did... just not publicly. According to Austen's co-star/hookup buddy, Salley Carson, they reached out to Austen offline to say sorry. She revealed on Page Six Radio on Tuesday: "They both called him and apologized." Whether Austen accepted the apology, we don't know. However, Salley isn't too happy about the way in which they dealt with the aftermath! She believes her fellow Bravolebrity deserves a public statement, too! She said: "I do think there should be a public apology for sure. I think that it needed to be a lot bigger. I'm kind of like, are y'all not wanting to apologize because you don't really want to admit that it was wrong?" Salley agreed with hosts Danny Murphy and Evan Real that if Nick and Natalie truly felt sorry, they would have edited out that part of the interview, but they didn't. And watching the footage of the moment now is heartbreaking for The Bachelor alum: "It honestly kind of broke my heart for him. I called him to see if he was OK because I'm like, 'I am so sorry that must have been so hard.'" The questions about his sister's death also seemed to "just [come] out of nowhere" for Salley. She added: "I could tell he was uncomfortable because his leg was shaking. I've been friends with him for a while and I haven't asked [about Kyle]. That's something that I feel like he should bring up when he feels comfortable." All around, it was just handled so wrong! But thankfully, Salley shared that Austen is "good" after the drama. Great to hear. Watch her interview (below): View this post on Instagram A post shared by Page Six (@pagesix) Do you agree with Salley, Perezcious readers? Should Austen also get a public apology?
