by Leyla MohammedBuzzFeedBuzzFeed Staff Unfortunately, many women in Hollywood have experienced cruel body-shaming over the years - not just within the media, but from their industry peers on set. Lili Reinhart, for example, once revealed that she was told to "suck in" her stomach by a director moments before shooting a scene - something that she said, unsurprisingly, has stuck with her throughout her career. Frazer Harrison / Getty Images Jennifer Lawrence is another star who previously opened up about being body-shamed, revealing in 2017 that earlier in her career, she was asked to lose 15 pounds in two weeks by a "female producer." Gilbert Flores / Getty Images More recently, Rose McGowan claimed that executives on Charmed would "circle" her and keep tabs on her weight from season to season. Aurore Marechal / Getty Images Sitting down with Charli XCX for Complex's GOAT Talk series on Feb. 9, Margot was asked to share the worst gift she's ever received. She recalled, "Very, very early in my career, an actor I worked with - a male actor - gave me a book called, 'Why French Women Don't Get Fat.'" Complex / Via complex.com "It was essentially a book telling you to eat less," she said. Complex / Via complex.com Recalling her understandably pissed reaction, Margot said, "I was like, 'Woah, fuck you, dude.'" Charli then asked if the person in question was "still acting," to which Margot said, "That was a very long [time ago]. I have no idea where he would even be now. Really back in the day." As one Reddit user put it, "Giving a coworker a diet book is wild behavior, especially in Hollywood where body pressure is already nonstop. That's not a gift, that's a passive-aggressive grenade," while someone else echoed, "What is with men and their passive-aggressive weight comments?" "My parents gave me that book as a teenager!! Seriously screwed me up," one Reddit user said, while another wrote, "My dad gave me that book when I was 19 or so. For Christmas." Thestewartofny / Getty Images "EWW MY GRANDMA GAVE ME THAT BOOK WHEN I WAS 12," one more person added. Infuriating, to say the least.
