The Puerto Rican rapper and singer hit the big stage (aka the NFL field) on Sunday night, where he performed several of his hits, shared the spotlight with Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin and ended with two powerful messages: "The only thing more powerful than hate is love" and "Together, We Are America." Following his 13-minute set, reviews began pouring in, with public figures utilizing social media to weigh in on the Grammy Award winner's landmark performance. John Mellencamp took to X on Sunday night, where he posted a statement that read, "I don't know what Bad Bunny is saying, however, I do know he is standing up for Puerto Rico and I am standing up for him. His half time show was great." In contrast, Jake Paul shared distaste with Bad Bunny's halftime show, writing on X that he was "Purposefully turning off the halftime show." "Let's rally together and show big corporations they can't just do whatever they want without consequences (which equals viewership for them)," the influencer continued. "You are their benefit. Realize you have power. Turn off this halftime. A fake American citizen performing who publicly hates America. I cannot support that." On the flipside, Jake's brother, Logan Paul, replied to his post noting that he "love[s] my brother but I don't agree with this." Logan continued, "Puerto Ricans are Americans & I'm happy they were given the opportunity to showcase the talent that comes from the island." President Donald Trump echoed Jake's sentiments, taking to Truth Social to call Bad Bunny's halftime show "absolutely terrible" and "disgusting." Trump added, "Nobody understands a word this guy is saying, and the dancing is disgusting, especially for young children that are watching from throughout the U.S.A., and all over the World." However, Scandal actress Kerry Washington argued of his show on Threads, "that performance was the epitome of LOVE." She continued, "And a wise man once said 'the only thing more powerful than hate is LOVE.'" "I don't know if I'll ever recover from that..." Washington wrote in a separate post.
