A Texas man has been arrested for allegedly fatally shooting his mother in front of his 9-year-old daughter after he learned that she was evicting him for not paying property taxes. Bexar County court records state that Frank Falcon has been accused of one count of capital murder, according to Law & Crime. Falcon's mother, Linda Webster, was shot to death on July 14, 2022, at a house on Gillette Boulevard in San Antonio, Texas, on July 14, 2022. In addition to killing Linda, 66, her husband and Falcon's stepfather, Mark Webster, was also injured. Additionally, the defendant's then-9-year-old daughter was at the home at the time the shooting took place. However, she was not injured amid the violence. Texas Man Reveals the Reason Why He 'Needed' to Kill His Elderly Mother Officers responded to the home around 2 a.m. to find that Linda had already died from her injuries. Meanwhile, Mark was suffering from a gunshot wound to his head. In addition to being charged with one count of capital murder, Falcon was also initially arrested on another count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. However, the subsequent count was later dropped when Falcon was indicted in October 2022. Prosecutors said that Falcon killed Linda after she evicted him for failing to pay property taxes on the residence, according to a courtroom report by KSAT. Falcon and Linda reportedly previously came to an agreement in which he was allowed to live in his mother's other property without paying rent as long as he paid the property taxes. However, he was kicked out when the Websters received a $10,000 bill showing that the taxes had not been paid in four years. During the investigation, Mark identified Falcon as the shooter on several occasions. However, he admitted that some memories were clearer than others from the day of the incident. When he first called 911, Mark told the dispatcher that it was "probably Frank Falcon" who shot him and his wife. However, Mark told a detective at another time that he was not sure who the killer was. When the trial kicked off in February, jurors were shown police-worn body camera footage in which Mark told authorities, "I think it was Frank Falcon, my stepson." During the opening statements on Tuesday, February 3, prosecutor Lauren Scott said the bullet that was recovered from Linda's body matched a gun that was found in Falcon's car after he was arrested. Meanwhile, defense waived their right to present an opening statement. Texas Woman, 72, Killed in a Shootout During Home Invasion As the trial continued, one of the responding officers described Falcon's appearance at the crime scene. "What stood out was he had black latex gloves on," the officer said during the Wednesday, February 4, hearing, according to KSAT. The officer said that the gloves were on the ground by the time Falcon was arrested, and the gloves were even shown in court. Another bombshell shared during the trial was that Falcon fled the scene and was stopped with a Taser-like device before he was arrested. If Falcon is convicted, he will automatically be sentenced to serve life in prison. The trial is ongoing and a verdict has not yet been reached.
