The clock is ticking. In Thursday's press conference, FBI special agent in charge Heith Janke confirmed a harrowing detail amid the search for Nancy Guthrie. We've heard reports of ransom notes being sent to media outlets. The authorities are taking the reported notes very seriously and are heavily investigating every tip - which already led to the arrest of person connected with an "imposter" ransom note. Savannah and her siblings have also expressed a desire to hear from whoever may have their mother, noting they're "ready to talk" but need proof of life, as well. TMZ said the writer wanted millions in cryptocurrency sent to a specific Bitcoin address. Now, the authorities have confirmed there's been a demand - and a timeline set. And it's way sooner than anyone wants to hear. Heith shared: "First, I think, was 5 o'clock today, and then it had a second deadline after that. ... In a normal kidnapping case, there would be contact by now, trying to discuss that. But those are the timeframes we are looking at as we move forward." OMG. 5 o'clock TODAY?! He clarified later: "The ransom note that was distributed to the media did make a demand for 5 p.m. today, and if a transfer wasn't made, then I think a second demand was for next Monday." He did not know or clarify what timezone that was in, and he did not go into specifics about what would allegedly happen if the ransom demand wasn't met. That is chilling... The authorities reiterated several times in the conference that it is ultimately up to the family to decide how they react (or don't) to a ransom note, but they are offering advice and guidance throughout this process. The agent also revealed they are now offering a $50,000 reward for "information leading to the recovery of Nancy Guthrie, and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance."
