Erika Kirk says Turning Point USA's alternative Super Bowl LIX halftime show is meant to honor her late husband, Charlie Kirk. "It's powerful because what Charlie always loved and knew is that he wanted to be in the forefront of the culture war," Erika, 37, said in a Fox News interview on Wednesday, February 4. "He would be fist-pumping at this. He would be so stoked. And what better way to honor him than to just get in the middle of this and be able to offer an alternative to families." Turning Point USA - the right-wing, conservative nonprofit organization founded by Charlie, 31, and now helmed by Erika after her husband's untimely death in September 2025 - announced the "All-American Halftime Show" last fall amid backlash over Bad Bunny being tapped as the 2026 Super Bowl halftime show performer. Kid Rock, Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice and Gabby Barrett were announced as the All-American Halftime Show performers earlier this week. The alternative halftime show will take place on Sunday, February 8, during Bad Bunny's set at Super Bowl LIX at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Kid Rock Addresses Going Head-to-Head With Bad Bunny During Super Bowl Erika continued of the event, "That's the thing that is so beautiful about Turning Point USA and our programs - it's holistic, it's for the entire home. It's of every age, and so for us to be able to provide an alternative that is pro-America, that is just pro-everything, that's not the opposite of what they're putting out there - I don't want to go into details and bash that because there is apparently an audience that wants that, but there's a larger audience that wants ours." The TPUSA CEO continued, "And so we're going to make it very amazing. I'm so excited, our team has worked so hard. The artists that have teamed up with us, I just want to say thank you to them. It's very brave of them to do this, and they partnered with us without hesitation, and it's actually been a huge blessing, and it's going to be an unbelievable halftime show." Bad Bunny, 31, a native of Puerto Rico who performs in Spanish, was announced as the halftime show performer in October 2025. The NFL's move to pick the musician caused a major divide, as some praised the decision as inclusive while others called it un-American, some going so far as to claim Bad Bunny, real name Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, is not an American citizen. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell praised Bad Bunny after the musician spoke out against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) at the 2026 Grammys on Sunday, February 1.
