Ice dancer Piper Gilles has the tireless support of her husband, Nathan Kelly, in her quest for Olympic glory. Gilles, who represents Team Canada figure skating with partner Paul Poirier, started dating Kelly in 2018. They wed four years later in 2024. "From the start, it felt effortless," Gilles told Hello! Canada in November 2024 of her relationship. "We connected on so many different levels, including grief, which is not something anyone should be going through so early on in a relationship." Gilles' mother died in 2018 at the age of 63 following a battle with brain cancer, while Kelly's father died six years earlier in 2012 after his own cancer battle. "This life-altering moment brought us closer. He could deal with me and empathize and he truly understood grief," she told the outlet. "It drew me to him." "When Nathan walked out, I knew this was going to be a very different situation." "I realized that life is extremely short and I'd rather chase what I love than settle for something else." Now, Kelly works as a photographer and videographer. Nathan Kelly Is Piper Gilles' Biggest Cheerleader Piper Gilles has competed in the ice dancing discipline with Paul Poirier as her partner since 2011.
