Well, this is about to catch the attention of all the conspiracy theorists! The Department of Justice released millions of new pages in the Epstein files on Friday - including documents indicating that Jeffrey Epstein potentially planned to cooperate with the feds following his arrest for sex trafficking minors and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of minors in July 2019. According to an FBI record, federal prosecutors met with the disgraced financier's attorneys on July 29, 2019, who "in very general terms, discussed the possibility of a resolution of the case, and the possibility of the defendant's cooperation." Whoa! Another document referenced the same meeting but pointed out that Epstein's lawyers made no specific proposals nor gave any details about what his cooperation would look like at that time: "Defense counsel did not make a specific proposal, and they did not indicate what the nature of Epstein's cooperation might be, if any. It was suggested that defense counsel contact SDNY if Epstein was prepared to accept responsibility for his conduct and/or they had a specific proposal for a resolution of this case." Regardless, it is a pretty big deal that Epstein's own attorneys met with prosecutors about potential cooperation in his sex trafficking case. It is unknown what he planned to say, if anything, and we likely never will. Weeks later, the 66-year-old sex offender died while locked up in a New York City jail cell by an apparent suicide while awaiting trial. A bit suspicious, right? Many people think so! A lot of folks do not believe Epstein killed himself. Even his own accomplice/former lover, Ghislaine Maxwell, who is serving a two-decade prison sentence after being convicted of child sex trafficking and other crimes, doesn't think he died by suicide. Like most, she believes he was murdered. And the doubts are understandable! He was a man who had a lot of dirt on some of the most powerful people in the world. Now we know he potentially was going to cooperate with the feds after his arrest, possibly even name names. Who knows. These new details are more ammunition for those conspiracy theorists, that's for sure. And if others are on the fence about what to believe, it'll likely raise their eyebrows now, too.
