Everyone is holding out hope for the safe return of Nancy Guthrie, even the police. The Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos, said in an interview with NBC's Liz Kreutz on Wednesday's episode of The Today Show that he believes the 84-year-old is still alive. He declared: "We have nothing else to go on but the belief that she is here. She's present. She's alive, and we want to save her." We sure hope so!!! While that's not at all what anyone wants to hear several days into the investigation, we can only hope his belief that she's still alive means they haven't found any evidence to suggest worse. See his latest comments: Chris has been candid since the start that this is a "race against time." Nancy requires a daily medication, and going 24 hours without it can be "fatal." We're well past that point, which is very frightening. A blood trail was also seen on Nancy's front steps, which is also very unnerving. Police have not addressed the blood, but they have sent DNA samples from the crime scene off for testing. As for if he has any substantial reason to think Nancy is alive, other than belief, it's unclear. There have been reports of at least two ransom notes having been sent to various media outlets, and law enforcement has confirmed they are investigating those. In TMZ's, the sender allegedly requested millions in Bitcoin by a certain time "or else." But, again, those notes haven't been verified.
