Ahead of its release, he penned an open letter explaining that his anxiety attacks are "exacerbated by media appearances and public-facing events," and that he would no longer be promoting his movies. If I made myself sicker by going out there and promoting it, I wouldn't be acting true to myself or to the film," he wrote. "I usually cringe at letters or statements like this, but I understand that I am of the privileged few who can afford to take time off. I won't lose my job while working on my anxiety. I'm hoping to make it more normal for people to talk and act on this stuff." And later that year, he also found himself at the center of a public scandal after his ex-girlfriend of roughly a year, Sarah Brady, accused him of emotional abuse. On Feb. 3, Apple TV unveiled a first look at the upcoming dark comedy, Outcome, which Jonah directed and co-wrote. The story follows a beloved Hollywood star (played by Keanu Reeves) who is forced to confront his demons after a bizarre video from his past threatens to ruin his life and end his career.
