Conceived by Jennifer Ashley Tepper, the production celebrates the late Jonathan Larson and features unheard songs drawn from his archives, offering insight into his work and creative development. The company includes Max Harwood (Everybody's Talking About Jamie film), Marcus Collins (Kinky Boots), Michael Mather (Wicked international tour), Grace Mouat (Mean Girls), and Imelda Warren-Green (Kathy and Stella Solve a Murder). Channeling the spirit of Jonathan, the production is also looking for two cover roles and are inviting performers with no professional stage credits to apply. The Jonathan Larson Project centres around a young man following his heart in New York City and trying to change the world. It features songs from some of Jonathan's unproduced shows including 1984 and Superbia, as well as songs that were cut from Rent and tick, tick...BOOM!, and more. The production offers a rare window into Jonathan's creative world, and this particular production will mark 30 years since his death in January 1996, which occurred the day before the first performance of Rent in New York. Speaking about the production, Jonathan Larson's family said, "We are delighted to have the opportunity to bring Jonathan's lesser-known music to a British audience. His spirit is very much alive in all these songs and, although written long ago, the work remains more relevant now than ever." The Jonathan Larson Project plays at the Southwark Playhouse Borough between July 9 and August 22. Let us know your thoughts over on CelebMix socials now!
