An Alabama mother and her two children are missing after they disappeared from their home over the weekend, when authorities believe they "were taken against their will." The search continues for Aurelia Choc Cac, 40, Niurka Zuleta Choc, 17, and toddler Anthony Garcia Choc, 2, according to the Mobile County Sheriff's Office. The family was last seen at their Mobile County home around 3:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, the sheriff's office said in a news release issued Saturday, January 31. Sheriff's deputies were called about their "suspicious disappearance" on January 31 and found "signs of a struggle" inside their home, according to the sheriff's office. "We believe they could be in danger," the sheriff's office said. Authorities are concerned for the family's safety because of the evidence found at their home, including blood, Mobile County Sheriff Paul Burch said during a Monday, February 2, news conference, AL.com reported. "But it's not just the blood," Burch said, according to the outlet. "It's the fact that there's cell phones and cash left at the scene and a missing mattress, which is very unusual." However, in an update on Monday, the sheriff's office said the man was interviewed and is no longer considered a suspect. The FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, which is the main investigative branch of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency are also involved in the search for Aurelia, Niurka and Anthony, AL.com reported. According to authorities, Aurelia has black hair, is 5 feet tall, weighs 140 pounds and was last seen wearing a maroon jacket and tan joggers. Her daughter, Niurka, was also described as having black hair, is 5-foot-1 and had been wearing a black top with plaid pants. Aurelia's other daughter and Niurka's sister, Lorena, who lives in Panama City, Florida, told FOX10 News that Niurka has red hair now, not black. She also said that her sister attends Theodore High School. Anthony was described by the sheriff's office as having black hair, weighing 30 pounds and had been last seen wearing "a cartoon character hoodie" and blue jeans. While speaking with FOX10 News, Lorena said that she does not know why someone would possibly want to hurt her family. During the news conference, Burch said that Aurelia and Niurka were ordered to be deported from the U.S. in April, AL.com reported. Though the order was issued in April, federal authorities had not moved to deport them ahead of their disappearance, the sheriff said. Federal law enforcement will be in charge of deciding whether to deport Aurelia and Niurka if they are located, Burch added, according to AL.com. Anthony was reported to be a U.S. citizen. The sheriff's office asks anyone with information on the family's disappearance to contact the agency at 251-574-8633.
