When officers arrived around 11:15 p.m., they reportedly found Linda unresponsive in the living room. Her body was later turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science for an autopsy. As of now, officials have not publicly released the cause or manner of death. Dispatch audio from the night reportedly referenced cardiac arrest, and it was William himself who called 911. At the time, he cooperated with police. And what followed was not immediate, but instead took a long time. On Monday - so, more than a month after Linda's death - William was finally taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder after detectives determined what they believe to have been his involvement in her death. Whoa... According to multiple media reports on Monday, William is currently being held on $500,000 cash bond and remains jailed after failing to post bail. Obviously, the seriousness of the charge - paired with the length of the investigation - underscores just how grave this case is. The story has also reignited public attention because of William's connection to the former first lady. Jill Biden married him in February 1970, when she was just 18 and a student at the University of Delaware. He was 23 at the time. Their marriage lasted almost five years and ended in what TMZ described as a contentious divorce in 1974.
