Erika Kirk is pushing back against any attempt to shield upcoming court proceedings from public view as the accused killer of her late husband, Charlie Kirk, prepares to go to trial. New legal documents reveal that Erika, 37, is calling for full transparency when defendant Tyler Robinson takes the stand, insisting that the case should unfold openly with evidence presented where the public and press can see it firsthand, according to TMZ. In the filing, she emphasizes that it should not come at the expense of Robinson's right to a fair and impartial trial, per the report published on Monday, February 2. "Without meaningful access to those proceedings, the public will be unable to directly observe and evaluate the evidence presented," she urged Judge Tony Graf Jr. in her motion to the court, according to News 4 Reno. "In the absence of transparency, speculation, misinformation and conspiracy theories are likely to proliferate, eroding public confidence in the judicial process." Tyler Robinson. Robinson has not yet entered a plea. The defense team of Robinson, who is expected in court on Tuesday, February 3, have taken the opposite stance by seeking heavy restrictions on media in the courtroom. They argued about a conflict of interest, stating that an 18-year-old child of one of the prosecutors attended the event at Utah Valley University when Charlie was fatally shot at the age of 31 on September 10, 2025. Erika Kirk Accuses Husband Charlie Kirk's Murder Suspect of Delaying Trial The county attorney's office argued that the 18-year-old UVU student "did not see Charlie get shot" and "did not see anyone (in the crowd or elsewhere) with a gun," court documents obtained by CNN indicated. Robinson will not be arraigned until after his three-day preliminary hearing, which begins in May. In recent days, Erika has shared fond memories of Charlie, whom she married in May 2021. The duo later welcomed two children. Erika Kirk Addresses Conspiracy Theories About Charlie Kirk's Burial and Death "I relive you in a thousand quiet ways," she wrote in an Instagram post on Thursday, January 29. "The way you love our babies, how we soaked in every moment for the season you worked so hard for, and the quiet moments of just the way we looked at each other when words weren't needed because the depth of love was so felt." "It just loops like a sacred film. And I find myself reliving the past, not to stay there, but to rewitness God's humbling grace...a living testimony that the Lord was faithful then, and He is faithful still," she continued. Erika posted her montage days after media personality Candace Owens released an alleged audio recording of Erika addressing Turning Point USA staff less than two weeks after her husband's death. Owens, 36, stated that "the general tone" was "off-putting." She added, "Again, we are not even two weeks after watching your husband be assassinated. We're talking about numbers and metrics that have been hit." (Us Weekly reached out to Erika and Turning Point USA for comment.)
