Don Lemon is sharing exactly what happened when he was arrested! Less than a week after he was taken into custody for documenting an anti-ICE protest at a church in mid-January, Don appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night to share his experience. He insisted there's "a difference between a protestor and a journalist" and stressed, "this is very serious; these are federal, criminal charges." He was detained for 12 hours and released without bail. Despite previously offering to hand himself in, the former CNN reporter recalled being "jostled," "grabbed," and "put in handcuffs" by the hotel elevators. The officers arresting him didn't even have a warrant! When Don asked to see one, they had to wait for an "FBI guy" to come in and show him a warrant on a phone before he was taken outside, where "a dozen" agents were waiting, which he called a "waste" of resources: "They want to embarrass you, they want to intimidate you, they want to instill fear." Once in custody, he claimed he was not allowed to make a phone call. However, he was able to use Siri to call his husband and lawyer amid the arrest, though neither picked up. His husband was also alerted of the arrest because Don had a bracelet that needed to be taken off because of the handcuffs, and he asked the FBI agent to take it up to his hotel room. Had that not happened, he said no one would've known where he was. Wow. Related: Trump Lashes Out Like A Mob Boss At Trevor Noah Hear it all (below): Thoughts? Let us know (below).
