There's been an important discovery in Nancy Guthrie's home. As Perezcious readers know, the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie has been missing since sometime in the very early morning hours of Sunday, after last being seen at around 9:30 p.m. by family on Saturday. Police have been searching for her around the clock since they were alerted of her disappearance that afternoon - and they believe something serious happened, calling her residence a "crime scene" and claiming she didn't walk out on her own accord. Now, descriptions like kidnapping and abduction have been tossed around by the police themselves, making this all increasingly harrowing. According to the Los Angeles Times on Tuesday, a chilling discovery was found in the residence: blood. The outlet reported that authorities discovered blood inside the home, but it is not known at this time whose it is. Law enforcement sources also told the outlet that there were signs of forced entry. Yikes. Stressing the pressure of time on this case, the Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told NBC on Tuesday: "It is a race against time, and I hope that window hasn't closed." Jeez. One reason time is of the essence is that Nancy takes a daily medication, and being without it for over 24 hours - as she has at this point - could be "fatal," he previously revealed. Without specifically mentioning the reports of blood found in the home, Nanos confirmed they have found some evidence they hope will lead to more answers, sharing: "We took some samples that we hope would have profile of a DNA, profile that gives us some identification as to what we're looking at." But the most gut-wrenching thing? He said it could take DAYS to get "conclusive" results back on the DNA samples they found! DAYS?! That's far too long in a case like this. If it comes back to be Nancy's blood, that would be truly horrifying. And yet, it may not be enough to find her. It sounds like they're desperate for more clues as to what happened and who may have taken her. If anything, the best result would be that they find the DNA of the suspect! He reiterated that Nancy has "no cognitive issues" and is "very alert, she's of good sound mind," but that she is "not in good physical health." He also clarified previous statements about the "abducted" theory, pointing out that he "did not mean that she was literally taken from her bed." They still don't have a clear picture of what happened in that home over the weekend. We hope they'll begin to find some concrete answers ASAP!
