Tom Davis, Simon Manyonda, Fehinti Balogun, Oscar Armstrong Miller and Carol Lawes have joined the cast of The Roots Manœuvre, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. In addition, Sampha will make a special musical appearance. The previously announced castmembers include star Vivian Oparah, along with Toni Collette, Little Simz, Jessica Henwick, Thomas Turgoose and Paterson Joseph. The Roots Manœuvre centers on a young woman (Oparah) who masterminds a risky heist to retrieve a stolen artifact amid the backdrop of an extravagant wedding. The movie is set to hit theaters but has not yet announced a release date. The project is produced in association with BBC Film and includes Eva Yates as executive producer. Allen-Miller helms The Roots Manœuvre from her own script. The feature marks her directorial follow-up to 2023 romantic comedy Rye Lane, which earned two British Independent Film Awards and was nominated at the BAFTA Awards. Searchlight Pictures released Rye Lane, which also hailed from BBC Film. Davis is known for such series as Murder in Successville, King Gary and The Curse and roles in such features as Wonka and Paddington 2. He is represented by Independent Talent Group. Manyonda has done acclaimed work on the British stage and has appeared on series His Dark Materials and Pennyworth and in such features as Rye Lane. He is repped by Curtis Brown and Goodman Genow. Balogun can soon be seen on Apple TV+'s Down Cemetery Road, and his previous credits include A Gentleman in Moscow and Dune. Balogun is repped by Markham, Froggatt & Irwin. Lawes is a stage and film performer known for The Harder They Come, Smile Orange and Get Millie Black. Lawes is repped by RAW Management Ltd. Sampha is a singer, songwriter and producer known for albums including 2017's Process, winner of the Mercury Prize, and 2023's Lahai. Sampha also contributed to the soundtracks for such movies as Beautiful Boy, Rye Lane and We Live in Time.
