Today anchor Savannah Guthrie has been candid about her close-knit family with mom Nancy Guthrie through the years. News broke on Sunday, February 1, that Nancy, 84, was reported missing after a family member called 911. Savannah was absent from the Today show the next morning, but released a statement on behalf of the family. "On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers, and messages of support," her statement read. "Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom. We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff's Department." Nancy was last seen on Saturday, January 31. New details have continued to emerge about Nancy's disappearance, including that authorities could tell Nancy "didn't leave on her own" and "don't see this as a search mission as much" as a crime scene Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos went on to share during a Monday press conference that there are "some concerns" about what they found in her home. When asked whether foul play was suspected, Nano shared that he was "not ruling it out." "We've pretty much just thrown everything at this that we can," Nanos shared, noting that search and rescue and criminal investigation teams were called in to help alongside drones, dogs and a helicopter. In 2018, Savannah praised her brother amid his retirement. "Col. Charles Camron 'ARLO' Guthrie on his final flight as an F-16 pilot," she wrote via Instagram at the time. "He retired from military flying this weekend and we were so honored to see his last flight. I have never been more proud of my big brother. He has flown for our country for 26 years, and continues to serve proudly in the 'Green Mountain Boys' - the Vermont Air National Guard. He is the pride of our family and one of this country's finest. #applause." Annie Guthrie Annie Guthrie, Savannah Guthrie's older sister, made an appearance on the morning show in 2017 and detailed their bond. "Our whole family just hung onto each other for dear life because it was such a shock," Savannah said at the time on Today, recalling the death of their father. "We were just trying to figure out how to become a family of four, when we had always been a family of five." When Savannah and Annie headed off to college after their father died, the pair both decided to live at home. "We had a spoken or unspoken pact that on the weekends, even though we were college girls, one of us would always stay home on one of the weekend nights so that my mom wouldn't be alone," Savannah said. "That was just something we did together as sisters." In Annie's perspective, she and Savannah are deeply connected. "My sister and I are like the sun and the moon," she said. "Her sorrows are my sorrows. And her successes are my successes." Savannah noted that Annie has "always taught" her about generosity. "She is as happy for me if something good happens to me, as if it had happened to herself, maybe happier," Savannah noted. How Did the Siblings Find Out About Nancy Guthrie's Disappearance? Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos shared during a Monday press conference that a friend from Nancy's church noticed she wasn't present at the service and called one of her children. The friend then went to Nancy's home and "did some searching and realized, 'We need some help,' and they called 911."
