Karen Huger is ready to speak her truth after spending six months behind bars. "I had been through hell and back," Karen, 62, said on the Sunday, February 1, season 10 finale of The Real Housewives of Potomac when looking back on her legal case with interviewer Andy Cohen. "I just know I'm not the same, but I think I'm better for it." Karen was arrested in March 2024 and charged with a DUI following a car accident in Potomac, Maryland. After she was found guilty in her DUI trial, the Grand Dame of Potomac was sentenced to one year in jail. Cohen, 57, traveled to visit Karen at her home for her first televised interview since being released from jail in September 2025. "I got my hands on them," she said. "I was able to reach a few of them. I was like, 'It took me six decades to get here. Why are you here at 20?' I found a purpose and I'm happy with that." "It was part of recovery. It was structure." While she didn't have any roommates, her cell included a steel sink and a steel toilet that was lined with maxi pads she received from other inmates. In the afternoon, she would work out, but not always outside. As she explained, "I didn't see grass for six months." The shame! I just couldn't believe that was me. Who is she? What is she talking about? I don't know that woman. I was blacked out talking on camera not having any idea how sick I was." While sitting down with Andy in September 2025, Karen - who continues to participate in Narcotics Anonymous - said she doesn't drink and is currently sober. "I hate the fact that I made that decision to drink so much," she explained. "I definitely had a drinking problem. I am a person who chooses to live in lifetime recovery on both ends - being drugs or alcohol." When asked if she considers herself an alcoholic, Karen struggled to use the word. "I consider myself a person living in lifetime recovery," she replied. "People can label you, but until you can identify yourself, you can't heal." She received a warm embrace from her husband, Ray, and other family members. "Ray and I, we really worked on our marriage in that jail," Karen revealed.
