The iconic filmmaker entered a special awards tier on Sunday with his first Grammy win, received for producing the Music by John Williams doc that won the best music film category. The honor was handed out during the non-televised premiere ceremony ahead of the main show. Spielberg already has four Emmys (for The Pacific, Band of Brothers, Steven Spielberg Presents: A Pinky & The Brain Christmas and Steven Spielberg Presents Taken), a Tony (for producing A Strange Loop) and three Oscars (for Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan). This is Spielberg's first Grammy nomination as well as his first win. "This acknowledgment is obviously deeply meaningful to me because it validates what I have known for over 50 years: John Williams' influence on culture and music is immeasurable and his artistry and legacy is unrivaled. I am proud to be associated with Laurent's beautiful film." Only 21 people have achieved the status of winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony in their careers, including past Spielberg collaborator Rita Moreno as well as Audrey Hepburn, Mel Brooks, Elton John, Whoopi Goldberg, John Legend, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jennifer Hudson, Viola Davis, composers Richard Rodgers and Alan Menken, and Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Spielberg has another chance to add to his Oscars total this year as well, serving as a producer on best picture nominee Hamnet.
