Brie "Bella" Garcia has returned to the wrestling ring for a surprise WWE matchup with her twin sister, Nikki Garcia, by her side. "Brie Bella is back," an announcer declared during the women's Royal Rumble on Saturday, January 31, as Brie, 42, ran into the ring dressed in a red latex jumpsuit. "What a shocker." Brie, who last participated in Royal Rumble in 2022, kicked major butt during the bout in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. After taking down a number of her competitors, Nikki, also 42, entered the ring for a chance at glory. The two sisters, however, were ultimately eliminated by Lash Legend. Brie and Nikki simultaneously retired in 2023, deciding to also leave behind their "Bella Twins" stage name. How Do Nikki and Brie Feel About Their Kids Being Athletes? They Say... "Today we are officially from here on out, the Garcia Twins," Nikki announced on a March 2023 episode of their joint podcast. "We're mothers, we're entrepreneurs, we're executive producers, we're hosting shows. When our contract came up with WWE, mutually we all knew we just needed to head into this new chapter." Nikki shares son Matteo, 5, with ex-husband Artem Chigventsev, while Brie and husband Bryan Danielson have two children of their own. The sisters' retirement also meant an opportunity for Brie to spread her creative and career-oriented wings outside of the ring. "We were just craving a new chapter in our lives and we knew in doing that, we had to go back to who we were and who we are - the Garcia twins," Brie exclusively told Us Weekly in May 2023. "I feel like, for us, the Bella Twins really were a character at the WWE. Now, we were attached to them outside of the ring because we were using the name so much, but at the end of the day, it was a big part of WWE." Nikki Garcia Reacts to 'John Cena Left You' Chants on WWE 'Raw' She continued, "It's not only been freeing and it feels like we really have just gained power, but it's almost like we can do whatever we want without asking permission. It's like we can just grow and nobody's going to hold us back." Despite being content exploring life outside the WWE, Brie and Nikki were both open to the idea of their children following in their wrestling footsteps. "I do think they would be a pretty bada** tag team," Nikki told Us in May 2024 of Matteo joining forces with Brie's 5-year-old son, Buddy, in the ring down the line. "He is my fearless side. I have to literally follow him everywhere because he just jumps off things. He goes on things. He has no fear." How Do Nikki and Brie Feel About Their Kids Being Athletes? They Say... According to Brie, her son is equally fearless at home. "I see [Buddy] and I'm, like, Ooh my gosh, he is so his dad and me - in ways he has my energy and just the way he'll do certain things," Brie told Us in 2024. "But he is my husband's mini-me and the way he will wrestle around and he'll just do things. The other day he put me in this thing and I'm like, 'Oh, that's a guillotine. We're not allowed to do that.' It's just incredible." Nikki later made her solo WWE return at the women's Royal Rumble in February 2025.
