[Warning: Potentially Triggering Content] Anne Burrell's loved ones are still struggling to wrap their heads around the nature of her death. Fans across the nation were shocked in June when they learned of the Food Network star's sudden and tragic passing... On the surface, things seemed to be going so well for her. She was reportedly in "great spirits" the night before her death performing in an improv show. And then in the blink of an eye, she was gone. Her husband Stuart Claxton was the one who found her unresponsive on the shower floor in their Brooklyn home. And as we've since learned, she was surrounded by dozens of pills. And just a couple weeks ago, the New York City medical examiner's office ruled her death a suicide, specifically via "acute intoxication due to the combined effects of diphenhydramine, ethanol, cetirizine, and amphetamine." But her friends are still struggling to accept that desolate fate. Who knows what happened after that. It's all sort of puzzling. She lived life. She was not a downer - she lived. For her, every day was a party in Anne's world. She lived every day. Everyone was shocked. There was no one that was like, 'the last time I saw Anne, she was in the gutter.' "For it to be the night of the performance [doesn't make sense]. She nailed it. She was on Cloud 9. She couldn't wait for it. It was such a moment." Such a complex situation with questions that sadly will never be fully answered. But the insider noted Anne seemed to be in a great place among new friends before her death: "She was having so much fun with this group of new friends. Anne just loved making friends. She put herself out there. Everywhere she goes, she'd make friends. She loved the party, she loved being around people, she loved entertaining." So, so sad. Phil Casaceli, who ran a restaurant with Anne for a year, told the outlet how he feels after learning of her tragic cause of death: "I was like, 'No way. I don't believe it.' It doesn't all make sense. She goes out, she has a great night. I don't believe it. That [the drugs] with alcohol - to me, it just seems like an accidental thing. To me, it just doesn't add up. She was always smiling." Another source pondered whether being under the influence possibly affected her decision: "Maybe she never thought about it [suicide] before, and decided to take all the pills in the cabinet [that night]." What a gut punch that we will never know for sure. Our hearts are broken for all of her loved ones. Rest in peace, Anne. If you or someone you know is contemplating suicide, help is available.
