Universal announced Friday that the forthcoming sequel in the racing series is entitled Fast Forever and is set for theatrical release March 17, 2028. It follows the previous installment - director Louis Leterrier's Fast X - having hit theaters in 2023. Franchise star Vin Diesel, known for his role as Dominic Toretto, celebrated the news on Instagram, posting a photo of himself with late co-star Paul Walker, who played Brian O'Conner. "One that has defined us and become our legacy... And a legacy... lasts Forever. March 17th 2028! FAST FOREVER." Back in February 2024, Diesel posted to Instagram that the series' forthcoming 11th film would mark the finale for the franchise's core story. "Just finished our end of the week Fast meeting with the writers and the whole team... to say the excitement for our finale was incredibly powerful is an understatement," he wrote at the time. "This grand finale is not just an ending; it's a celebration of the incredible family we've built together. Hope to make you proud!" Last year, the actor attended Fuel Fest, an automative event organized by Walker's brother Cody Walker. During the event, Diesel announced that the next movie would feature a "return to the car culture, to the street racing."
