Candace Owens sounded off about Erika Kirk's "upbeat" demeanor on an alleged Turning Point USA conference call made less than two weeks after Charlie Kirk's assassination. Owens, 36, prefaced the leaked audio she exclusively shared with her listeners in a new YouTube video on Tuesday, January 28, by noting that Erika, 37, was going to be "at the helm" of the organization in the wake of Charlie's death at the age of 31 on September 10, 2025. "They're getting to know her," Owens explained. In the nearly two-minute clip, which Owens alleged took place 12 days after Charlie was fatally shot, Erika reflects on his September 21 memorial event while assuming the role as CEO and chairperson of Charlie's Turning Point USA organization. "I don't even know where to begin. The fact that we were able to pull off an event of a century, like, it's just insane. We had over 275,000 people that attended and stadium overflow, west gate. Insane, you guys," Erika allegedly began. "And then you have, was it 100 million? We had thousands that were registered to vote. I think we're at like over 200,000 for merch sales." The development team, the graphic design team, the production team," she continued. Erika noted how staffers who worked on the memorial event had worked 20-hour days and had sleepless nights "during the time of us grieving the loss of my husband." "I don't care if any of you have beef with each other from the past or have any issues with someone said something about this or that. Like, if you guys have any of that, please put it to rest," she mentioned during the conference call. "My husband's dead. Like, I'm not trying to be morbid, but he's dead. And it puts life into perspective, of how short life is." Stars Who've Supported or Criticized Erika Kirk After Charlie Kirk's Death Owens reacted to the audio, stating that "it is the general tone that is off putting." Owens added, "It's the laughter that is off putting. Again, we are not even two weeks after watching your husband be assassinated. We're talking about numbers and metrics that have been hit." "That's moving pretty quickly to the acceptance phase now," Owens continued. "We know everybody grieves differently. In my imagination, I just thought she would be more upset." A spokesperson for Owens also addressed questions surrounding the clip's authenticity and said, "The video is real and authenticated." Us Weekly reached out to Kirk and Turning Point USA for comment. Erika Kirk Addresses Conspiracy Theories About Charlie Kirk's Burial and Death Prior to Owens releasing the leaked audio, she and Erika met up on December 15. Erika posted about the two having "a very productive conversation," adding, "More to come from both of us." Owens also spoke out at the time, stating that she raised several questions and shared info she had discovered, noting that it seemed to be a step "in the right direction." Prior to that, Erika was asked what she would say to Owens for fueling conspiracy theories about Charlie's assassination. "Stop. That's it. That's all I have to say. Stop," Erika said while chatting with CBS News Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss for an hour-long town hall that aired on December 13.
