The 55-year-old, best known for hosting the BBC's The Repair Shop, will appear in court next Wednesday over the charges, according to the BBC. He left the series last year. The Repair Shop has been in action on British television since 2017. The show follows a workshop where broken or damaged family heirlooms are brought back to life. The series became a National Television Award winner in 2023 and went on to win a BAFTA that same year for its royal special, in which the now-King appeared on the show to have a clock and vase fixed (filmed before Charles' ascension to the throne in 2022). Blades also hosted other shows such as Jay Blades' Home Fix and Money for Nothing. In 2022, he was the face of a documentary about learning to read at 51. He was given a prestigious U.K. honor, an MBE, by the royals in 2021. It adds to a slew of bad news for the BBC as the channel's biggest names continue to field a myriad of allegations. MasterChef hosts Gregg Wallace and John Torode have been fired amid claims of inappropriate behavior on set, and celebrated news anchor Huw Edwards was handed a six-month prison sentence suspended for two years last year after pleading guilty to making indecent images of children.
