Watch: Bryan Kohberger Case: Idaho Murder Victims' Families Sue His Former CollegeBryan Kohberger may not have fled immediately after committing murder. A newly unsealed filing from the prosecutors in the case obtained by People stated that the former criminology student-who was sentenced to life in prison after pleading guilty to murdering Idaho students Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20, and Ethan Chapin, 20-possibly took the time to arrange the bodies of two victims after killing them at their off-campus residence in 2022. Forensic scientist Dr. Brent Turvey-the crime scene expert for Kohberger's defense team-made the observation after reviewing the autopsy reports, according to the filing. "The evidence suggests that after both victims were killed or unresponsive they were posed in their shared bed," the crime scene analyst shared in court documents, per the outlet. "Kaylee was moved from a position with her head on her pillow to partially atop of Madison. Then the comforter was placed over them both."readBryan Kohberger's Sister Mel Kohberger Breaks Silence on Idaho MurdersThe detail alleged in the newly unsealed filing provides a new update to the timeline of the quadruple homicide case. On Nov. 13, 2022, roommates Goncalves, Mogen and Kernodle had returned home to their shared house, along with Kernodle's boyfriend Chapin, after a night out, ABC News reported, citing police. Investigators believe Kohberger snuck into the house through a sliding glass door and killed the four students after 4 a.m, prosecutor Bill Thompson stated. The now-31-year-old then attacked the victims with a large knife, prosecutors said in a March court filing obtained by Dateline for its special "The Terrible Night on King Road." Mogen and Goncalves died in their third floor bedroom from sharp force injuries, according to the autopsies released by the Moscow Police Department in July and obtained by E! News. Goncalves was also suffocated during the attack. Authorities said Goncalves' wounds "made her unrecognizable," per a police report obtained by the Idaho Statesman.

She was ultimately stabbed over 50 times, suffering most of her injuries while trying to defend herself, according to her autopsy report obtained by E! News. Her boyfriend Chapin is believed to have been the last person attacked in the house, as sources close to the investigation told Dateline he was likely asleep in bed before he was killed. The source added that the perpetrator "carved" his legs with a blade during the gruesome slaying.
