Varun Dhawan recently grabbed headlines after a video of him riding the Mumbai Metro went viral. In the clip, the actor is seen holding onto the grab handles and hanging from them, prompting reports that authorities had imposed a fine on the Border 2 actor.
However, Mumbai Metro officials have now clarified that no such action was taken against Varun. In an official statement, the spokesperson said, "We would like to address the recent reports regarding Varun Dhawan and the Mumbai Metro. We wish to clarify that no fine or penalty of any kind has been issued to Varun. The earlier post by the authorities has been taken down, and we appreciate their cooperation in clearing up this misunderstanding. Varun has the utmost respect for the city's rules and the Metro department's efforts. We are happy to confirm that there are no pending issues, and we thank the media for sharing this accurate update." Earlier, the Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited's (MMMOCL) social media page issued a statement reading, "This video should have come with a disclaimer like the ones in your action movies, Varun Dhawan- Do Not Try This On Maha Mumbai Metro. We get it, it is cool to hang out with friends inside our metros, but those grab handles are not for hanging. Acts like these are punishable under the sections relating to causing nuisance and/or damage to property given in the Metro Railways (Operations and Maintenance) Act, 2002, attracting penalties and even imprisonment depending on the gravity of the offence. So folks, hang out, but don't hang in there. Travel responsibly on Maha Mumbai Metro." However, this post has been removed now. Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan was recently seen in Border 2 with Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty and others.
