The original screenplay nominees are Black Bag, If I Had Legs I'd Kick You, Marty Supreme, Sinners and Weapons. The adapted screenplay nominees are Bugonia, Frankenstein, Hamnet, One Battle After Another and Train Dreams. While the original screenplay category is relatively different from the Oscars' best original screenplay category, both Marty Supreme and Sinners made the cut from the Film Academy and Writers Guild. None of the WGA Awards' documentary screenplay nominees are nominated for the best documentary feature Oscar. In the TV categories, Pluribus leads with four nominations, followed by The Pitt and The Studio with three apiece. Winners will be announced at simultaneous ceremonies in New York and Los Angeles on March 8. The Los Angeles ceremony will be hosted by Atsuko Okatsuka and will be livestreamed on the Writers Guild Awards West's YouTube channel. The guild will honor Don Reo (Blossom, M*A*S*H*) with the Paddy Chayefsky Laurel Award for Television Writing Achievement. And Stephen Colbert, as he nears the end of his Late Show run, will be honored with the Walter Bernstein Award. Though Colbert is set to be recognized with this honorary award, his Late Show was not nominated in the comedy or variety series talk or sketch category.
