Amazon is pulling back the curtain on the life of first lady Melania Trump in the new documentary Melania. The film specifically highlights the 20 days leading up to the 2025 presidential inauguration in which her husband, President Donald Trump, was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States. "History is set in motion during the 20 days of my life prior to the U.S. Presidential Inauguration," Melania said of the film in December 2025, per Fox News. "For the first time, global audiences are invited into theaters to witness this pivotal chapter unfold - a private, unfiltered look as I navigate family, business, and philanthropy on my remarkable journey to becoming First Lady of the United States of America." The first lady said her story "has never been told, and because the subject matter is historically consequential, it was imperative for me to produce a film of the highest cinematic standard, suitable exclusively in theaters worldwide." "Step inside Melania Trump's world as she orchestrates inauguration plans, navigates the complexities of the White House transition and moves her family back to the Nation's Capital," the official synopsis of the film says. "With exclusive footage capturing critical meetings, private conversations, and never-before-seen environments, MELANIA showcases Mrs. Trump's return to one of the world's most powerful roles." Who Directed 'Melania'? The film was directed by Brett Ratner. Ratner and Melania also produced the doc along with Fernando Sulichin and Marc Beckman. Ahead of Melania's theatrical release, Beckman revealed Ratner had "remarkable" access to the first lady. "There were behind-the-scenes meetings," he told The Los Angeles Times in January 2026. "She's a very private person and for the first time she was allowing the cameras to cover her, her family, her philanthropy and of course her business endeavors." Ratner's past works include Rush Hour, The Family Man and X-Men: The Last Stand. The director was previously accused of sexual misconduct in November 2017 by multiple women at the height of the #MeToo movement, including Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge. He denied the allegations. Warner Bros. subsequently cut ties with Ratner, choosing not to renew their contract with his production company. What Happens in the Trailer for 'Melania'? A trailer for the documentary was released in December 2025, featuring several clips of Melania attending meetings and photo calls, jet-setting across the globe, interacting with her husband and their son, Barron Trump, and more behind-the-scenes moments. "Here we go again," she says to the camera while sporting the now-famous wide-brimmed black hat she wore to Donald's inauguration. Other clips tease the design process of some of her wardrobe pieces, including the black and white gown she wore to the inaugural ball in January 2025. "Everyone wants to know, so here it is," Melania says in a narration toward the end of the trailer before she is heard speaking on the phone with her husband.
