A source claimed Her Majesty was left "furious" after The Crown painted her husband as a cold father. "Boris [Johnson] didn't really care who was there as long as some rich people showed up," a source told the outlet. _ "It was suggested by the government that Netflix should attend the summit and the drinks reception at Windsor Castle, which was ultimately the biggest attraction of the whole event. The Palace said no," an insider added. Queen Elizabeth II's marriage to Prince Philip, as well as the unraveling of King Charles III's relationship with Princess Diana, were plot points for the series. However, the historical drama didn't always paint the Windsors in a favorable light. _ Despite Queen Elizabeth II's rumored disinterest in The Crown, another source claimed Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, watched the program with the famous matriarch. "Edward and Sophie love The Crown. It has been a longstanding arrangement that they drive to Windsor at the weekend to join the Queen for an informal supper while watching TV or a film," a source told Daily Express back in 2017. _ "They have a Netflix account and urged her to watch it with them," the source continued. "Happily, she really liked it, although obviously there were some depictions of events that she found too heavily dramatized."
