by Chelsea StewartBuzzFeedBuzzFeed Staff Warning: Discussion of domestic violence and sexual harassment. Jameela Jamil just addressed the text messages she sent about Blake Lively. David Dee Delgado / Getty Images As you probably know, Blake sued Justin Baldoni, her It Ends With Us co-star and director, in December 2024 for alleged sexual harassment and retaliation. Justin denied her claims and filed a $400 million countersuit against Blake, her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and the couple's publicist, Leslie Sloane, for alleged extortion and defamation. Blake denied the claims, and in June 2025, the countersuit was dismissed. Jose Perez / Getty Images This week, ahead of a hearing, multiple alleged text messages involving Blake were unsealed, including messages Jameela sent to her publicist, Jennifer Abel, who also worked with Justin. BuzzFeed viewed the exchange, which occurred in August 2024, before Blake's lawsuit. The text discussed Blake's promotion of the movie, which Jameela, like many other viewers at the time, found problematic. Jameela had sent a TikTok about Blake's viral remarks on the web series Jake's Takes, where Blake controversially joked about how people affected by the movie might approach her in public to discuss its themes, which include domestic violence. Jeff Spicer / Getty Images In one text, Jameela said, "She's a suicide bomber at this point." In another, she called Blake "such a bizarre villain act." Neilson Barnard / Getty Images On Instagram, Jameela clarified that the texts were sent before she knew anything about the alleged behind-the-scenes issues between Blake and Justin. Gareth Cattermole / Getty Images "Timing is key for context," Jameela said. "Guys, check the texts. Check the dates on the texts. They were August 2024. The lawsuit wasn't filed until December 2024." Marla Aufmuth / Getty Images She emphasized that she wasn't referring to any of the later claims about Blake. Mike Marsland / Getty Images "I had no idea about any of this stuff," Jameela said, adding that she was "just purely" venting to her friend about the press rollout for "that fucking terrible movie." Ramsey Cardy / Getty Images "I didn't like the way the press was being handled," she continued. "I grew up with domestic violence in my home. I was a victim of domestic violence in my 20s. It made me feel some type of way. It made lots of people feel some type of way." Axelle / Getty Images "The way that the interviews were set up for the success of making a really beautiful, bonding interview and was met with callous or sarcastic or cold or diluted answers, it offended me," Jameela said. Aeon / Getty Images But instead of "piling on" publicly to the backlash Blake was already getting, Jameela "took it to the group chat." Charley Gallay / Getty Images "No one's ever supposed to see those text messages," she added. "Me calling her a suicide bomber is just a reference to me watching someone use their own terrible answers in interviews to blow up their own career or their own project. I found that both funny and very agitating. And I'm just kidding around in private messages." Charley Gallay / Getty Images Jameela added, "I would never have put that out there for the world, not because I'm ashamed, but because I don't want to cause harm or trouble for that person. I don't want to make anyone feel bad. I just want to express that to my friend. That's healthy. That's normal."
