by Chelsea StewartBuzzFeedBuzzFeed Staff This week, Karamo Brown made headlines after suddenly pulling out of press interviews for Queer Eye Season 10 to the "surprise" of his co-stars. Mike Coppola / Getty Images The news was first shared by TV host Gayle King, who was expected to interview the cast on Tuesday's CBS Mornings. Sitting with Tan France, Jonathan Van Ness, and Antoni Porowski, Gayle said, "We received word just in less than an hour ago that Karamo Brown is not going to be joining us today." CBS Mornings / Via youtube.com According to Karamo's assistant, Karamo was "worried about being bullied." Gayle also read a statement from Karamo himself, where he apologized for his absence and said he stepped back to protect his mental health. "I hope everyone remembers the main theme I have tried to teach them over the past decade, which is to focus on and to protect their mental health/peace from people or a world who seek to destroy it," he said, "which is why I can't be there today." Araya Doheny / Getty Images Karamo also gave a similar statement to Today with Jenna & Sheinelle, saying he "has felt mentally and emotionally abused for years," and that his therapist advised him not to attend "to protect himself and his peace." Lisa O'connor / Getty Images While he didn't go into detail, People reports that Karamo had a falling out with the cast after an incident on the Season 10 set. Michael Loccisano / Getty Images An insider told the outlet Karamo's mom, Charmaine, was on set, "overheard them talking about Karamo," and "let him know." Byron Cohen / Getty Images The source added that while "it wasn't meant to be gossiping or bullying," it "caused a break" between Karamo and the other Fab Five members. Bravo / Getty Images BuzzFeed did not immediately hear back from reps for Tan, Jonathan, and Antoni - though all three previously said they surprised by Karamo's remarks. "Surprised is a fair understatement," Antoni told Gayle. Rick Kern / Getty Images "I will say, our Queer Eye family, we've been doing this for almost a decade - which is pretty wild to believe - and families are complicated and we're definitely not excluded from that," he continued. "But I think two things can exist at the same time. And while that is definitely true, we're also here to showcase these incredible heroes we have and really honor the legacy of this past decade of our lives and all these wonderful heroes that we've had the blessing of getting to meet and have conversations with." Michael Loccisano / Getty Images Jonathan added that they were "proud" of Karamo for prioritizing his well-being. "I'm actually really proud of him," Jonathan said as Tan nodded in agreement. "Center what you need. Do the things you need to do to take care of you. I'd be lying if I didn't feel like that sometimes. I think it's really beautiful." Randy Holmes / Getty Images Since then, Karamo has unfollowed all of his co-stars except newcomer Jeremiah Brent. Jeremiah joined the show in Season 9 after the departure of longtime cast member Bobby Berk, who also had tension with cast members before his exit. BuzzFeed has reached out to reps for Karamo for further comment - in the meantime, let me know your thoughts below.
