Maren Morris and ex-husband Ryan Hurd are making music together two years after their divorce. Morris, 35, took to her Instagram Story to share a photo of a recording studio on Friday, January 23. Hurd, 39, could be seen holding a microphone and wearing headphones as producer Jon Green sat in front of a computer. "We back," Marris wrote, tagging Hurd and Green. Morris and Hurd's reunion came more than a decade after the pair met while cowriting "Last Turn Home" for Tim McGraw. The pair began dating in December 2015 and announced their engagement in July 2017. Morris and Hurd tied the knot in Nashville in March 2018 and welcomed son Hayes in March 2020. Maren Morris Says Friends Had to 'Pick Sides' After Her Divorce Morris filed for divorce from Hurd in October 2023, Us Weekly confirmed at the time. A source exclusively told Us that Hurd "wasn't expecting" the filing. The insider added that the musicians were "opposites," which may have been "difficult" in their relationship. In a cryptic social media post at the time, Morris shared, "It will be fine. It will just be, and when it is, you will face what's necessary." "The Middle" singer broke her silence about the split a few months later on Howard Stern's SiriusXM show. "I cut all the trauma out of my hair," she said. "I think this year has - for a lot of people, not just me - a lot of people that are close to me have gone through it. I've known so many people that have gone through breakups or divorces." Morris also confirmed that her divorce had been "ongoing" at the time and said she wanted to "wrap up" the proceedings before dating again. Maren Morris/Instagram "I don't have the headspace for that yet," she explained. "But I'm writing so much right now, that's kind of been my way of dating is just through song." Morris and Hurd's divorce was finalized in January 2024. However, the exes have continued to amicably coparent Hayes. "There [are] so many emotions when you have a child with somebody and the relationship doesn't pan out," Morris told People in August 2024. "I feel like Ryan and I have done a really great job at just being great parents for him." Additionally, in May 2025, Morris revealed that Hurd lives just five minutes away from her. Maren Morris Details Coparenting With Ryan Hurd, Calls Dating a 'S--- Show' "Our stops are really easy, and we'll have family dinners," she told The Zoe Report at the time. Following her split from Hurd, Morris was rumored to be dating Perfect Match star Justin Assada in August 2024. Additionally, earlier that summer, Morris publicly came out as bisexual. "happy to be the B in LGBTQ+ happy pride 🌈," she wrote via Instagram at the time. Morris confirmed in May 2025 that she had been on dates with women while navigating her sexuality. "I would love to talk about it because I'm so new at it, and I would love to just get feedback because my experience has been really positive," she said on Betches' "U Up?" podcast at the time. "I also have, like, confusion sometimes because I can connect with a woman, any woman within like two minutes. We'll be talking about our childhoods. We'll be talking about the bully when we were 13. We will get into it so quickly. With a guy, that would take like years to get into that trauma."
