Dennis Rodman is proud of his estranged daughter, Trinity Rodman, who became the highest-paid women's soccer player in the world when she signed an extension with the NWSL's Washington Spirit. Dennis, 64, shared a post via his Instagram Story on Thursday, January 22, from ESPN that announced the news, adding Drake and Nicki Minaj's song "Make Me Proud." "It's just amazing, girl, and all I can say is I'm so, I'm so, I'm so, I'm so I'm so proud you," the lyrics read, which Dennis included in the post. "History," he added. NBA Legend Dennis Rodman's Family Guide: Meet His Children Trinity, 23, and the Spirit agreed to a three-year extension that will pay her more than $2 million per year, according to ESPN. "I've made the DMV my home and the Spirit my family, and I knew this was where I wanted to enter the next chapter of my career," Trinity said in a press release. "I'm proud of what we've built since my rookie season, and I'm excited about where this club is headed. We're chasing championships and raising the standard, and I can't wait to keep doing that with my teammates and the best fans in the NWSL." Washington won the NWSL's Challenge Cup in 2025 and finished as league runner up each of the past two seasons. As Trinity's professional career has flourished - and landed her on the U.S. Women's National Team - her relationship with her five-time NBA Champion father has been turbulent at best. Dennis Rodman and Daughter Trinity's Estranged Relationship Over the Years Trinity and Dennis have seemingly always had a rocky relationship, going long periods without communication. In a December 2024 appearance on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast, Trinity explained that she does not consider Dennis to be "a dad" to her. "Maybe by blood, but nothing else," she said. "I don't want to say negatively, but more realistic about it. We tried to be that foundation and to be the good people around him. Because in reality, we never really asked for anything unless we really needed it. ... He's never understood that people could actually just want to be around him and to just want to make him happy." She added that Dennis' party lifestyle, which he was famous for in his playing days, had a direct impact on her and her brother DJ's relationship with him. (Dennis and ex-wife Michelle Moyer welcomed DJ in 2001, a year before Trinity was born. Dennis also shares eldest daughter Alexis with ex-wife Annie Bakes.) "We tried to live with him, but he's having parties 24/7. He's bringing random bitches in," she said. "My mom didn't want - she was strong enough to deal with it because even to this day, I still believe that my dad hasn't loved anyone after my mom. I think my mom just saw the situation of, 'We love each other. It's not gonna work,' or, 'My kids, I can't have them seeing you treat me this way, embarrass me this way and have the party scene all the time.'" Still, Trinity said that she answers the phone when he calls. "I answer the phone now for my conscience. If something does happen, God forbid, I want to know that I did that," she said. "Or if he needed to hear my voice before anything happens. That's why I answer the phone, not for me."
