Michael Irvin said he was not doing drugs on the sideline at the College Football Playoff championship game. The erratic behavior that viewers witness is just representative of who he is. Irvin, 59, appeared to be, shall we say, a little too energetic as he watched his alma mater, the University of Miami, square off against Indiana University for the national title on Monday, January 19, but he assured listeners of his Netflix podcast, "The White House," that it was all natural. "I'm right there in front of the camera for five hours," Irvin said on the Thursday, January 22 episode. "So, after the game, I do a little belt thing, and everybody sends me all this - 'Man, Mike, right now, he coked up right now! You all on coke!' I'm like, 'Wait a minute, y'all. First of all, y'all know damn well coke don't last five hours.'" Irvin added that it had been decades since he last did cocaine. "That's just what I'm saying, like stop it. Stop saying this stuff. But they're not doing it out of reality. They're doing it to get to you. ... When I used to get high, that's exactly what I would say. No matter who I saw. 'Oh, he high too!' Because you high! You want everybody to be high, because you high!" "Whenever you sitting your ass at home high, you want to think everybody else is high," he continued. "Because your ass is high! I understand that, but the reality is everybody ain't high." After Miami beat Texas A&M in the first round of the College Football Playoff, he walked up behind Miami head coach Mario Cristobal and gave him a kiss. "That was disgusting," Cristobal, 55, joked during his on-air interview, adding later, "I couldn't find enough wipeys to clean myself." Heisman Winner Fernando Mendoza Denies Getting 'Obliterated' at Afterparty A week later, after the Hurricanes upset Ohio State in the quarterfinals, he removed his belt and began spanking a Gatorade cooler as he screamed. It begs the question of what Irvin would have done if Miami had actually won the championship game, rather than losing, 27-21, to give Indiana its first-ever title. In defeat, Irvin faced some criticism for not taking pictures with Hoosiers fans. "Hell yeah, I'm a sore loser," Irvin said. "Sorry, I am that. But that's why I won so much." Irvin won championships at the college and professional levels, leading Miami to the 1987 national championship, then winning three Super Bowls with the Dallas Cowboys. He also addressed the topic in a Thursday appearance on Cam'ron's "It Is What It Is" podcast. "I was depressed after the game, I'm not gonna lie. I was depressed. Everybody was calling me, saying, 'Let's go out and party.' I said, 'I ain't going nowhere,'" he said. "As I'm trying to leave the stadium, all the Indiana fans, 'Mr. Irvin, I'm a Cowboys fan, can we take a picture? Hell nah, I ain't taking a picture with y'all.'"
