Netflix reportedly had no idea about Karamo Brown's rift with his Queer Eye castmates! Hmm. As Perezcious readers know, on Tuesday, Karamo skipped out on live interviews with his cast - and it was a last-minute thing. CBS producers were only told less than an hour before airtime, and they were the ones who informed the Netflix PR reps when they arrived. A production source told The US Sun on Thursday that Netflix was "horrified" by Karamo's allegations, in which he claimed he had endured mental and emotional abuse for years. The confidant expressed: "Netflix is frustrated that all of this is coming out at the eleventh hour. They were blindsided by him not showing up for interviews. That was not originally the plan and there has been little to no communication from his team to the Netflix team. According to the source, the streamer was stunned by his allegations: "Netflix feels horribly that he was going through this and had no idea the issues went as deep as they did. And now, it seems he's alienated [Netflix] and has gone about this with his own team." Huh. Clever wording. They didn't know the "issues went as deep as they did" - so they may have known something was wrong on set. And it seems hard not to notice. Apparently, the final straw for the rift occurred after Karamo's mom overheard cast members Jonathan Van Ness, Tan France, and Antoni Porowski gossiping about him on set. Plus, there's video of the entire cast, including Jeremiah Brent, seemingly excluding him during production! And Karamo suggested this has been going on for "years"! Frankly, it sounds like Netflix is mostly upset about how this impacts them more than anything. The source said many execs are frustrated that this controversy is overshadowing the final season of the show and fears it has "ruined" its legacy, the insider put it bluntly: "Fury is too light of a word." Jeez. They added: "The show's reputation and legacy has been stained. They wanted to end this show with the love that started it all." TBH, the show's reputation was damaged LONG ago. This isn't their first cast controversy! Bobby Berk's exit was full of drama, including a cast feud, and JVN was accused of being a "monster" on set! It's been messy for many years! And sadly, after all this, the source also doesn't think there's any hope for a reconciliation: "Karamo is still not speaking to the rest of the cast. At this point, it doesn't seem like resolution is possible." Dang. If things are that tense, no wonder Karamo didn't want to show up to the interviews! At this time, Netflix hasn't spoken out about the claims. Instead, they're focused on supporting the rest of the cast amid the rollout of the season. Thoughts? Let us know (below).
