After a father in North Carolina was arrested for killing four of his children, it was reported that he invited Grindr dates to his home, not far from where "some of [their bodies] were decaying." Prosecutors claimed that Wellington Delano Dickens III repeatedly entertained men he matched with on Grindr in the home, which is where the kids all died and their bodies were kept, according to a series of court documents filed in January. Investigators requested and obtained warrants for Dickens' computer and two cellphones, according to WCNC. Police specifically asked for access to Dickens' Grindr account in one of the warrants. Amid the search, police allegedly found multiple text conversations on Dickens' phone in which he introduced himself "as the person that they were just speaking with on Grindr." Authorities concluded that the men Dickens matched with on Grindr "frequented the home during the time span of the murders taking place." Dad Discovered Wife Killed Sons When He Got Home From Work: NJ Prosecutors As Dickens allegedly entertained multiple men at the home, he was keeping the decaying bodies of his four children in the trunk of his car, parked in the garage. In addition to asking for access to Dickens' Grindr account, investigators requested geolocation and media data from the app, according to the report. Prosecutors claimed in an additional document that Dickens reportedly called 911 on October 27, 2025, and told a Johnston County Sheriff's Office dispatcher that four of his kids were dead. "I killed my children. It's a lot to explain, but in a nutshell, it's all my fault," he reportedly said on the call, according to WCNC. The Johnston County Sheriff's Department previously announced Dickens' arrest on October 28, 2025. "Mr. Dickens stated to deputies that his 3-year-old son was inside the house alive and four of his other children were deceased inside the trunk of a vehicle in the garage of the residence," the office wrote in a news release. When authorities arrived at his address, his 3-year-old son was found "unharmed in the residence." However, deputies soon found "what were believed to be multiple bodies in the trunk of a vehicle in the garage." After launching an investigation, deputies concluded that the bodies "had been there for a long period of time." Dickens later spoke to investigators, telling them that his 5-year-old and 9-year-old daughters died as the result of punishments that may have been too harsh, according to WBTV. Additionally, Dickens reportedly said that he disciplined the 5-year-old before sending her to her room in June 2025. He claimed that she was dead when he went to check on her later. Dickens reportedly taped the 9-year-old's mouth shut when she asked about her sister's death, and she was found dead soon after. Dad Locked His Baby, Other Children in Milwaukee Storage Unit: Officials Dickens said his 10-year-old child died after he stopped eating, according to WRAL. Meanwhile, his 18-year-old child was the last to die in September 2025 and the teen's death was likely caused by malnutrition. Additionally, Dickens revealed that his newborn son died due to his deteriorating health shortly after the family moved to the Zebulon, North Carolina, home in May 2023. According to WNCN, police have not been able to locate his body. Dickens is currently in custody at Raleigh Central Prison, and he is being held without bond. He is next scheduled to appear in court for a status hearing on Friday, March 27. The Johnston County Sheriff's Office did not immediately respond to Us Weekly's request for comment.
