The battle over Jana Nayagan, Vijay's much awaited political drama, has moved into a decisive phase after the Madras High Court reserved its judgement on the appeal filed by the Central Board of Film Certification. The appeal challenges a single judge order that had directed the CBFC to grant certification to the film on January 9. On the very same day, the CBFC rushed to a division bench and secured a stay on that order, effectively freezing the release of the film.
