Cristin Milioti is also on the roll call for the feature, which was written by Apatow and Powell. Apatow is directing the project, which will shoot this spring. The story centers on a country Western star (Powell), whose life and career are in free fall. Cline will play the star's girlfriend. Universal has set a Feb. 5, 2027 release date for the project. Dan Cohen, Powell's partner at the duo's Barnstorm banner, which has a first look deal with the studio, is producing as well. Kevin Misher, who once acted as Universal's president of production in the late 1990s, is producing through his shingle, Misher Films. Senior executive vp of production development Erik Baiers and director of production development Jacqueline Garell are overseeing the project on behalf of Universal. Cline has been starring in Outer Banks, one of Netflix's top shows, since 2020. The series' fifth and final season is due to premiere later this year. In the film world, the actress was seen in Netflix's Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery as well as in Sony's I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel and Amazon's romantic drama, The Map That Leads to You. She next appears with Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz in Lionsgate's Day Drinker, out later this year. Cline is repped by CAA, Entertainment 360, Bold Talent Agency and Hirsch Wallerstein.
