According to a report from The Athletic published on Friday, January 16, Agnel, 33, was charged in French criminal court for alleged acts of rape and sexual assault on a minor under 15 years of age. Agnel - who retired from swimming after the 2016 Rio Olympics - has 10 days from the decision on Thursday to appeal the decision to the Court of Cassation, the highest court in France's judiciary.
